High Profit Fundraisers or Highly Successful Fundraisers?
Most people think of "high profit fundraisers" in terms of the percentage of profit these fundraisers will yield. However, if not much product is sold, then the actual cash profit may not amount to very much.
Seeking out the fundraiser offering the highest profit percentage disappoints more often than it satisfies. Why? Because too many fundraising companies know that most fundraiser seekers look for high profit percentages, so an offer of a high percentage of profit is the bait that goes on the hook.
Before you take the bait, think about it. All fundraising companies operate in a competitive environment, so if they're offering higher profits that are out of line with the marketplace then consider that these higher profit percentages must come from at least one of three sources: lower quality products, fewer or less costly services, or it could be the result of a misrepresentation that is intended to deceive. (There are some slick ways to misrepresent profit percentages.)
It is often the extra services that a company provides to ensure a successful campaign that can secure greater cash profit for a sponsor. On the other hand, an unseemly higher profit percentage invariably has to come from what is being provided—or rather what is not being provided. Clearly, you have a choice. You can take the bait or you can take a more sure path to success.
